Rick and Morty S2E1, Adult Swim

Having restarted time, Rick, Morty and Summer are in a quantum-uncertain state of existence. An argument leads to the creation of two alternate timelines, which need to be stitched back together fast if they are to escape quantum collapse.

THE GOOD

Representation of multiple dimensions fantastically done and very entertaining. Episode never held the viewer's hand, instead demanding focus to keep up with the complicated plot. Jerry and Beth’s side story held well on its own. All characters' and their storylines continue to be well progressed, never giving us a feeling someone is a "minor character".

THE BAD

The episode could have possibly done without the Fourth-Dimension character. It didn't feel necessary to the plot.

KEEPIN' IT REEL

STARTS AT (00:49:32)

Pixels, Sony Pictures Entertainment

When aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth in the form of the video games.

THE GOOD

Nostalgic moments towards classic characters was fun. CG was well done. 3D worked great during humans vs video game battles. Game cameo by SmashTV was surprising and greatly appreciated. The great parts of the film were usually “popcorn flick” moments.

THE BAD

Adam Sandler gags/character are just about the same as in his other movies, but they're becoming increasingly tired. The script was rushed and poorly written. Story was written off of outdated stereotypes of video gamers and the games industry in general. The story felt like it was written for 80’s video gamers but wrongly marketed towards a younger audience. Females grossly represented in the film as simple damsels in distress, or "trophies" to be won. Overall a disrespectful film towards nerds and geeks that was MEANT for nerds and geeks.
