Episode 36: Let My Pew Pews Go!

  • Cards Against Humanity sells 30,000 boxes of shit for $6. People surprised when they receive actual shit. Here's the shitty unboxing:

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Arc System Works

THE GOOD: A visually stunning game that almost feels as though you're controlling an anime. Well plotted-out storyline that is both forgiving to new players to the franchise and rewarding to die-hard fans. A challenging game, but simple to pick up. Fantastic online gameplay so far, with post-purchase support planned in the form of new fighters.

THE BAD: Small roster for the hefty price tag. Most of the game content is in the story mode, so if you're picking this up just to play a fighter, you'll be missing out on a lot. Earn-able "Titles" have been left in Japanese for some odd reason, but there's probably a fix on the way for that.

FINAL RATING: 5 out of 5 Pews

Exodus: Gods and Kings, Scott Free Productions & 20th Century Fox

The defiant leader Moses rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

THE GOOD: Acting was solid. Not a surprise coming from Christian Bale, but Joel Edgerton was especially a treat to hate. Visually, a stunning movie, with a ton of gorgeous overhead shots of Egypt and such. The "movie science" was really cool for the plagues, as the blood in the Nile River was explained by overly aggressive crocodiles killing many Egyptians, which in turn killed all the fish, which made the frogs leave the river due to all the blood, which then died due to lack of water, which then attracted flies, etc. It's all chained up together. The movie is also enjoyable to religious and non-religious alike, never forcing religion down your throat, but never disrespecting it either.

THE BAD: You don't leave the movie feeling like your conscience has transcended into a new level like, say, Interstellar. It's not terribly engaging. We also had a personal qualm with Moses not flat out telling Ramses that God was gonna smite the hell out of his son. It's the little things, man...

FINAL RATING: 4 out of 5 Pews
