HBO to offer HBO Go as standalone service beginning in 2015
THE GOOD: Easy to set up and easy to use. The Jet model is small enough for two people with its 1L bottle.
THE BAD: Flavors can be hit or miss. Extra CO2 canisters can be expensive if you don't utilize the trade-in program.
FINAL RATING: EDDIE T GUARANTEED (5/5 PEWS)
Knightmare Tower, Juicy Beast
THE GOOD: Juicy Beast needs to be commended for their take on the launch game genre. Unlike current launch game Doodle Jump, nightmare Tower incorporates RPG elements and a quest system to add massive replayablility. The quirky and colorful art style is gorgeous.
THE BAD: At $2.99, it's difficult to jump into this game without caution. Fortunately, there's free versions for you to try out. Gyroscope controls will also turn off many.
FINAL RATING: 4/5 PEWS
KEEPIN' IT REEL
Dracula Untold, Legendary Pictures
THE GOOD: The visuals are great. Fight scenes are stunning. The way Dracula’s powers are handled is not cheesy.
THE BAD: Some shooting techniques were innovative, yet unsuccessful. The subpar script leaves much to be desired, with little to no reason to care about these characters. Vlad is a good man who wants to protect his family, but we never achieve an emotional connection. There’s also a fight scene that has a good concept but goes on far too long (the “sword” scene). The end sets up for a sequel in a very interesting way that would have served better as a mid or post-credits stinger. A popcorn flick, most definitely.
FINAL RATING: 3/5 PEWS
